Baby Boy Nursery

We are weeks, days, or hours away from meeting our baby boy, and we just finished up his sweet nursery. It has absolutely surpassed my vision, and I have found myself sitting in there soaking it all in. I had a vision for this space to be sweet, but masculine. We have a generally simple style, but love using textures and patterns to add character to a space since we do not have the character of an old farmhouse anymore. I found the sweetest wallpaper combo that really brought the space together, and coupled it with a cowhide rug and leather chair to add a masculine touch.

Lets dive into all of the details below.

Baby Boy Nursery Vision Board:

Wallpaper:

I absolutely fell in love with a wallpaper combo from Anewall; I think that it is the perfect combination for a sweet little boy nursery. I was initially leaning toward a more tan/brown tonal plaid wallpaper, but the sweet blue plaid brings in more of a baby feel with otherwise masculine features like the cowhide rug and leather chair. This was my first time using Anewall wallpaper, and I was very impressed; it is very thick, quality paper, it comes in precut sections which makes installation easier, and the print and muted tone colors are perfect. We always go with traditional wallpaper, but they do have pre pasted and peel and stick options as well.

Paint:

The biggest transformation that we did in this room was the wallpaper, and the contrast trim paint that we already had in this space worked perfectly with it. Read the full blog post on our interior paint colors and contrast trim paint color choice here.

We did not purchase a ton of new items for this sweet nursery; always remember to try to repurpose things that you already have before buying new! His sweet dresser/changing table is a refinished antique that I got on Facebook Marketplace for Lillian’s nursery, and it works perfectly in here now. We absolutely love this changing table basket that we also used in her nursery initially; it is beautiful and adds the perfect texture/dimension to a space, but is also functional. We decided to sell our cream fabric rocker after I found this leather pottery barn chair on Facebook Marketplace for a steal! Shop similar here, but I always recommend trying to purchase furniture second hand if you are able to! I was initially considering using an antique jenny lind wood crib, but found the perfect antique gold crib on Facebook Marketplace that I could not pass up. We have a Bratt Decor crib for Lillian’s nursery as well that we have loved- they are excellent quality, and truly an heirloom that you could store and save for their kiddos to use one day. little details:

A few pieces that we purchased for the nursery that I fell in love with are the mirror and the lamp. I love the uniqueness of the wood mirror that I found, and the texture that the lamp shade brings to the room. We used simple acrylic book shelves in a little corner nook of his room; the perfect functionality without taking away from the beautiful wallpaper. I added the simplistic wood “once upon a time” art above the shelves for the perfect sweet touch. I absolutely love these blackout pinch pleat curtains; they are incredible quality, lay perfectly, and I love the color (grey beige). We also have a blackout roman shade in both nurseries because I love the double window treatment look. We have the cordless lift option in color bonaire flaxen with an attached blackout white liner. We also feel that the roman shade helps to insulate and keep cold air out in the winter. I found a rattan flush mount light that adds the perfect texture, and with a good price point. We have not figured out a permanent closet system option yet, so we got an inexpensive clothing rack that works perfectly with some baskets for additional organization. I am still thinking through additional art that I want to add above the crib, but I am still leaning toward the cute “howdy” print from my initial vision board.

& don’t forget about our favorite snowy the owl diffuser for sleep. Snowy is a diffuser, nightlight, sound machine, and humidifier in one. Lily absolutely loves hers, and it is a can’t forget it part of our bedtime routine. She was very excited to set one up in baby brothers nursery as well.

I hope this sweet baby boy nursery helps to provide some inspiration and guidance for yours as well!
