DIY Flower Arrangement
Is it just me, or does having fresh flowers in your house make you happy?
I’ve learned that adding fresh flowers/greenery to my home decor does not have to be expensive- I grab a few small bundles at Trader Joes for under $15, and I can put together 2-3 vases to spread the love throughout the house. I am by no means a florist, but I will share some of the tips and tricks that I have learned along the way with arranging my flowers.
Flower Arrangement Tips
Always start with a flower that takes up the majority of the space in the arrangement– I love using Hydrangeas
Select a variety of flowers and vase fillers with different colors and textures
Pull of all lower leaves- you do not want any leaves sitting in the water; I find that they grow mold, and decrease the longevity of your flowers
Arrange all of the flowers in your hand before cutting stems
Choose your vase- I prefer a shorter vase, and like to cut the flowers so they sit just on top of the vase
Tips for increasing the longevity of your flowers
Add 1-2 drops of purification oil to your water instead of the packet that comes with the flowers
Use HOT water in your vase
Cut the stems on an angle
Make sure you trim your stems & add fresh hot water once weekly
Using these tips, I have had flowers last over 3 weeks!
