DIY Bunny Lamp

I saw my friend Samantha @signedsamanthaxo transform a cutie bunny lamp that she bought for her daughters big girl room, and I was inspired to have a bunny lamp in Lillian’s nursery!

Pottery Barn has the cutest bunny lamp with a scalloped detail shade, but a $169 price tag. I decided to tackle making one myself!

I have to say…

it is a cutie.

I did not know how easy it is to make your own lamp, until I realized that they sell DIY lamp making kits… it’s so simple!

I purchased a gold DIY lamp lighting kit and an antique brass extension rod from Wayfair for $43.87 total.

I had this concrete garden bunny for a long time, and it was the perfect size for the project!

isn’t she cute?

I found her at Marshall’s years ago and used it as a door stop to keep our farm door from blowing shut when we had it open in the spring/summer.

so now for a lamp shade…

I really loved the scalloped shade, and I loved that it matched the scallop design on the bookshelf that Brian built. I was able to find a beautiful scallop lamp shade at Ballard Design that was a bit more expensive than I was hoping to spend… but it was perfect.

The lamp shade came in at $73.14 with shipping.

beautiful & great quality linen.

Overall, the process of putting it all together was rather simple, but will depend on what base you get. Since the bunny we had was solid concrete, Brian used a hammer drill to create a hole through the bunny to run the wire and rod!

And then simply follow the instructions with the DIY lamp building kit!

Ta-Da!

Overall, this project was very simple, and I think it turned out so dang cute!

the $117 price tag ended up being a bit more then I was hoping, but you could always cut down on cost with a different lamp shade.

But how cool that we can tell our little girl that we hand made this lamp just for her.

OK, so who is going to tackle a DIY lamp now?! I cannot wait to see!
